Saratoga Recycles Day 10/26/19 9-2pm

Our third Saratoga Recycles Day will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 9-2 at the SPAC parking lot on the west side of Route 50.

Re-purpose unwanted household items. Protect the environment. Help the community.

Sustainable Saratoga’s first ever Saratoga Recycles Day in 2017 was an amazing success. We collected more than 11,000 pounds of textiles, at least 80 bikes, and tons of scrap metal, diverting these things from the landfill. Our 2018 event was even bigger (read about our 2018 event). We are excited to host our third Saratoga Recycles Day this October. This event is planned and run by Sustainable Saratoga’s amazing volunteers, and we thank them for their dedication to this effort.

Please note that there will be a $5 entrance fee per vehicle. Again this year, household TVs and monitors can be recycled for an additional fee of $20 each, which helps us offset the cost that we have to pay to get these items properly recycled.

We are hoping to add a few additional items this year, so check back soon for additional information and updates. We are also updating our traffic flow to get people off Route 50 and through the stations more quickly, and to reduce vehicle idling time. We encourage people to coordinate with their friends and neighbors to combine items into one vehicle.

WE CANNOT ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

  • Pillows
  • Carpeting
  • Rugs with rubber backing
  • Batteries
  • Thermostats
  • Smoke detectors
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Toxic/hazardous materials

SNOW EMERGENCY RULES

CITY OF MECHANICVILLE SNOW EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

A Snow Emergency will be declared by the City of Mechanicville when there is a snowfall resulting in 3 inches of snow or more. The following rules will be deemed to be in effect immediately during a snow emergency.

When a snow emergency goes into effect it is mandatory that you move your vehicle to the EVEN numbered side of the street. No parking is allowed on the odd numbered side of the street for the first 24 hours. Parking there will result in your vehicle being ticketed and towed. Plows will proceed to plow on the odd side of the street for that 24-hour period. Example: Even side parking means even house numbers such as 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 50,100 and so forth.

After 24 hours from the start of the snow emergency residents must move to the odd side of the street for the next 24-hour period. No parking allowed on the even side of the street. Parking there will result in your vehicle being ticketed and towed. (At this point plows will plow the even side of the street for that 24-hour period.)

When signs are in place for snow removal they will supersede all parking rules including posted signs.

Your cooperation is not only mandatory but also crucial to the City being able to plow, salt and remove snow from the streets.

Any vehicle interfering with the removal of snow by not parking on the correct side of the street will be subject to Towing at the owners expense and fine for failure to do so.

For information regarding Snow Emergency Procedures please call the Highway Department at (518) 664-7171.

"WIPE" OUT SEWER CLOGS: The toilet is not a trash!
http://mechanicville.com/DocumentCenter/Index/132

DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING EXCEPT TOILET PAPER
The City of Mechanicville has installed a new sewage pump station behind City Hall in May 2013. Even though sewage pumps were installed, the new pumps have been clogging with wipes and other products that have been flushed down the toilet.

This is a national issue that is impacting us in Mechanicville. It costs communities tens of thousands of dollars. Help save yours and the City's money, time and infrastructure.

Back up and clogs in the City's sewers and pumps must be manually cleaned by City employees. Clogs which occur in a home sewer will require costly plumbing repairs. Avoid the costly repairs, do not flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet. Place all other products in the trash.
